About the Treatment
Smooth away wrinkles and rejuvenate your appearance with anti-wrinkle injections
Wrinkles and different facial expressions develop due to the ageing process. Smooth Dimensions can administer anti-wrinkle injections, commonly known as botulinum toxin, to smooth your wrinkles out leaving your skin looking youthful and rejuvenated. Botulinum Toxin injections are formed of a natural protein that can be used to interrupt the muscle contraction process and prevent frowning, squinting and other facial expressions which lead to creating creases and wrinkles in the face.
Our anti-wrinkle injections are carried out by our highly experienced Advanced Aesthetic Nurse, Fiona Mahandru. Fiona has extensive knowledge and skill when it comes to injectable anti-wrinkle skin treatments, and will be able to advise you further on the various options available to you upon consultation.

Can I combine anti-wrinkle injections with other treatments?
Yes, anti-wrinkle injections can be combined with other aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers or skin boosters for enhanced results.
Do I need a top up?
A top-up after anti-wrinkle injections isn’t always necessary, but it depends on individual results. We will consider the following:
- Full effects appear 14 days post-treatment. If some areas still have movement, a small top-up may be needed.
- If asymmetry or excessive movement remains after 2 weeks, a review appointment can determine if an adjustment is required.
- If results are smooth and effective, no top-up is necessary. Over-treating can lead to a frozen look.
Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a small pinch.
How long do the results last?
Results generally last 3 – 6 months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism and the treated area.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment typically takes 15 – 30 minutes.

Is there any downtime after anti-wrinkle injections?
There is little to no downtime. You can resume daily activities immediately, but it is advised to avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.
Is there anything I need to do before my treatment?
To minimise bruising, swelling, and complications, avoid the following before your appointment:
7 days before treatment:
- Ibuprofen, naproxen, and other NSAIDs.
- Alcohol – increases the risk of bruising and swelling.
- Omega-3 & vitamin E – can thin the blood and increase bruising.
- Herbal supplements, especially Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Ginseng – increases the risk of bruising.
24 to 48 hours before treatment:
- Caffeine – can increase sensitivity and bruising risk.
- Intense exercise – can increase blood flow and worsen swelling or bruising.
On the day of treatment:
- Arrive makeup-free if possible.
- Stay hydrated and eat a light meal to prevent feeling lightheaded.
- Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine.
If you are prone to bruising, Arnica supplements may help when taken a few days before treatment.
What is anti-wrinkle injections used for?
Anti-wrinkle injections is used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, as well as treat medical conditions such as excessive sweating and teeth grinding. At Smooth Dimensions, it is tailored to address your specific concerns.
When will I see results?
Results become noticeable within 5 – 10 days, with full effects visible at around 2 weeks.
Why is it important to wait 3 months between treatments for anti wrinkle injections?
- Prevents resistance: Over-treating too frequently can lead to the body producing antibodies against anti-wrinkle injections, making it less effective over time.
- Allows full wear-off: Results typically last 3 to 4 months. Treating too soon can lead to uneven results and unnecessary product use.
- Maintains natural muscle movement: Regular spacing prevents muscles from becoming overly weak, which can lead to a heavy or unnatural look.
- Prevents over-correction: Treating too early increases the risk of excessive relaxation, leading to drooping or an unnatural expression.
- Long-term effectiveness: Sticking to a 3 month cycle helps maintain optimal results while keeping the muscles trained to be less active over time.
