About
Alma Harmony Iris Dye-VL IPL

Target redness, pigmentation, and vascular concerns – precisely, safely, and effectively.

Iris Dye-VL and Dye-SR are IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices that use narrow spectrum wavelengths to treat broad areas of vascular and pigmented lesions – delivering safe, effective, and progressive results on both the face and body.

Unlike laser which uses a single wavelength, IPL uses a broad spectrum of light that can be filtered to target specific chromophores – the colour molecules in the skin responsible for redness and pigmentation. The Iris Dye-VL uses a cooled applicator combined with advanced settings that adapt to your skin type, adjusting for both safety and comfort throughout the treatment.

By targeting haemoglobin in blood vessels and melanin in pigmented lesions, the light energy heats and destroys these structures without damaging the surrounding skin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between IPL and laser?

Laser uses a single, precise wavelength of light to target a specific concern. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light that can be filtered — making it effective for treating broader areas of vascular and pigmented concerns simultaneously. Your practitioner will advise which is most appropriate for your concerns at consultation.

Is IPL suitable for all skin tones?

IPL works best on lighter skin tones where there is good contrast between the lesion and the surrounding skin. It is not suitable for very dark skin tones. Suitability is always assessed at consultation and confirmed during your patch test.

Does it hurt?

Most clients experience a mild snapping or warm sensation as each pulse of light is delivered. The cooled applicator helps to manage comfort throughout. No anaesthetic is required.

How many sessions do I need for rosacea?

Most rosacea clients see meaningful improvement over a course of 3–6 sessions. Rosacea is a chronic condition and cannot be cured, so periodic maintenance sessions are typically recommended to sustain results long term.

Can IPL treat pigmentation on the body?

Yes — Iris Dye-VL can be used to treat pigmentation and redness on body areas including the chest, hands, arms, and back. Your practitioner will confirm suitability at consultation.

Can I have IPL if I am on medication?

Some medications can affect suitability for IPL — including certain antibiotics, retinoids, and medications that increase photosensitivity. A full medical history will be taken at your consultation to confirm suitability.

How long do results last?

Results are long-lasting with a good skincare routine, sun protection, and periodic maintenance sessions. The exact duration varies depending on the concern treated and individual factors.
