About the Treatment

Smooth and rejuvenate fine lines around the mouth with perioral line filler

Perioral lines, often called smoker’s lines or lip lines, can develop over time due to ageing, repetitive movements, and lifestyle factors. Dermal fillers offer a non-surgical solution to smooth these fine lines, restoring a youthful and refreshed look while maintaining a natural appearance. This treatment softens the area around the mouth, enhancing lip definition and creating a smoother contour.

At Smooth Dimensions, our Advanced Aesthetic Nurse, Fiona Mahandru, is highly skilled in treating perioral lines with precision. By carefully targeting these lines, Fiona ensures balanced, subtle results tailored to your aesthetic goals.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort. Numbing cream can be applied before the procedure to ensure comfort.

How do dermal fillers treat these lines?

Dermal fillers add volume beneath the skin to smooth fine lines and enhance lip contours for a more youthful look.

How long do the results last?

Results typically last 12 – 18 months, depending on the type of filler used and individual factors such as metabolism.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment typically takes 20 – 30 minutes.

Is there anything I need to do before my treatment?

To minimise bruising, swelling, and complications, avoid the following before your appointment:

7 days before treatment:

  • Ibuprofen, naproxen, and other NSAIDs.
  • Alcohol – increases the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Omega-3 & vitamin E  – can thin the blood and increase bruising.
  • Herbal supplements, especially Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Ginseng – increases the risk of bruising.

24 to 48 hours before treatment:

  • Caffeine – can increase sensitivity and bruising risk.
  • Intense exercise – can increase blood flow and worsen swelling or bruising.

On the day of treatment:

  • Arrive makeup-free if possible.
  • Stay hydrated and eat a light meal to prevent feeling lightheaded.
  • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine.

If you are prone to bruising, Arnica supplements may help when taken a few days before treatment.

What are perioral lines?

Perioral lines, often called smoker's lines, are fine vertical lines around the mouth caused by ageing or repetitive movements.

When will I see results?

Results are visible immediately after the procedure, with optimal results appearing as swelling subsides within a few days.
