About the Treatment

Brighten and refresh your under-eye area with tear trough filler

The tear trough area, located beneath the eyes, can become hollow or dark with age, stress, or genetics, leading to a tired appearance. Tear trough filler is a non-surgical solution that uses hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers to restore volume, smooth hollows, and reduce the appearance of dark circles. This treatment brightens the under-eye area, giving you a more youthful and refreshed look.

At Smooth Dimensions, our Advanced Aesthetic Nurse, Fiona Mahandru, is experienced in tear trough filler treatments. Using a precise and careful approach, Fiona delivers natural, subtle results that enhance your overall facial appearance.

Mild side effects such as redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site are common but typically resolve within a few days.

Can this filler be combined with other treatments?

Yes, tear trough filler can be combined with treatments such as dermal fillers in other areas, Botox® or skin boosters for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort. Numbing cream can be applied before the procedure to ensure comfort.

How does the treatment work?

Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are injected to restore volume and improve skin texture in the under-eye area.

How long do the results last?

Results typically last 6 – 12 months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment typically takes 20 – 30 minutes, making it quick and convenient.

How much does the treatment cost?

Pricing at Smooth Dimensions varies depending on the amount of filler required. A consultation will provide a personalised price. Pricing guidelines can be found above.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes, tear trough filler is safe when administered by a qualified professional such as our Advanced Aesthetic Nurse, Fiona Mahandru.

Is there any downtime?

There is little to no downtime. Most patients resume normal activities immediately, although it's advised to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. You may experience some swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection sites, which typically subside within a few days.

Is there anything I need to do before my treatment?

To minimise bruising, swelling, and complications, avoid the following before your appointment:

7 days before treatment:

  • Ibuprofen, naproxen, and other NSAIDs.
  • Alcohol – increases the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Omega-3 & vitamin E  – can thin the blood and increase bruising.
  • Herbal supplements, especially Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Ginseng – increases the risk of bruising.

24 to 48 hours before treatment:

  • Caffeine – can increase sensitivity and bruising risk.
  • Intense exercise – can increase blood flow and worsen swelling or bruising.

On the day of treatment:

  • Arrive makeup-free if possible.
  • Stay hydrated and eat a light meal to prevent feeling lightheaded.
  • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine.

If you are prone to bruising, Arnica supplements may help when taken a few days before treatment.

What is tear trough filler?

Tear trough filler is a dermal filler treatment designed to reduce hollows, dark circles, and shadows under the eyes for a refreshed appearance.

When will I see results?

Results are visible immediately after the procedure, with optimal results appearing as swelling subsides within a few days.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

A consultation with us will best determine if tear trough filler is right for you. If you have hollow, sunken eyes or darkness under the eye, tear trough filler could be right for you. As a general rule, if you have any puffiness around the eye area, tear trough filler will not be suitable for you. Polynucleotides could be considered as an alternative to rejuvenate the eye area.
