Our Treatments

Acne Laser & IPL Treatment Essex

Alma Harmony ClearSkin Pro is used for suitable patients experiencing active acne, excess oil, congestion, recurring breakouts and enlarged-looking pores. IPL using the Alma Iris Acne handpiece may also form part of a personalised treatment plan where appropriate.

Rather than offering the same course to every patient, treatment is selected according to your skin, the type of acne you are experiencing and any related concerns such as redness or uneven texture.

Treatments Overview

How do Laser and IPL treatments help acne?

ClearSkin Pro is a non-ablative laser treatment that delivers controlled energy beneath the skin’s surface while leaving the outer layer intact.

It is designed to target factors associated with active acne, including excess sebum and acne-related bacteria. The controlled thermal effect also supports the skin’s natural repair response and dermal remodelling.

IPL uses pulses of light rather than a conventional laser beam. The Alma Harmony platform allows different technologies to be used according to the concerns being treated. At Smooth Dimensions, Iris Acne IPL may be incorporated into a personalised plan where appropriate, particularly where visible redness is also present.

Over a recommended course, treatment may help improve active breakouts, oily or congested skin, enlarged-looking pores and uneven acne-related texture.

How it works

What can Acne Laser and IPL treatment help improve?

Following assessment, treatment may be considered for:

Active inflammatory breakouts

Recurring facial acne

Excess oil and congestion

Enlarged-looking or blocked pores

Uneven acne-related texture

Inflamed spots and pimples

Active acne and established acne scars are not the same concern. Patients mainly affected by indented or textural scarring may be better suited to laser resurfacing, microneedling or a separate treatment plan.

Consulation

Your Laser consultation and patch test

A consultation is required before acne laser treatment. The 60-minute appointment costs £50 and is fully redeemable against treatment.

Your practitioner will review your skin, medical history, medication, current skincare and previous acne treatments. Skin analysis and a patch test are included to determine whether ClearSkin Pro is appropriate and select suitable settings.

The consultation also covers realistic results, likely downtime, the recommended number of sessions and the treatment cost.

Over a recommended course, treatment may help improve active breakouts, oily or congested skin, enlarged-looking pores and uneven acne-related texture.

The Treatment Process

What happens during acne treatment?

Your skin will be cleansed before treatment begins. The technology used will depend on the treatment plan created during your consultation.

If ClearSkin Pro is used, the applicator is passed across the treatment area while controlled laser energy is delivered beneath the skin. You may experience warmth, tingling or brief discomfort.

IPL may also be used where it is appropriate for the concerns being treated.

Treatment duration and settings depend on the area and your personalised programme. Temporary redness, warmth, sensitivity or mild swelling may occur.

You will receive aftercare guidance, including advice about skincare, active ingredients and sun protection.

A course may be recommended because acne does not usually change after one session. The number and spacing of appointments will be confirmed after assessment.

1

We discuss your goals, review your medical history and assess your skin.

You’ll receive personalised aftercare guidance before leaving the clinic.

Faqs

Acne Laser treatment FAQs

Have questions before booking? Here are the most common things patients ask about consultations, pricing, results, downtime and suitability.

ClearSkin Pro delivers controlled non-ablative laser energy beneath the skin’s surface. It is designed to reduce excess sebum and acne-related bacteria while supporting dermal remodelling.

IPL can form part of an acne-treatment plan for suitable patients. Laser and IPL work differently, so the technology used will depend on your acne, skin type and any associated concerns such as redness.

It may be considered for active breakouts, oily or congested skin and enlarged-looking pores. Suitability depends on acne type, severity, medical history and current medication.

It may improve some mild acne-related texture, but established indented scars often need a different or combined approach, such as laser resurfacing or microneedling.

The number varies according to your skin, the treatments being used and your response. A personalised course will be recommended after consultation.

You may experience warmth, tingling or brief discomfort. Sensation varies according to the technology, treatment area and settings used.

Treatment courses start from £920. The £50 consultation, skin analysis and patch test fee is fully redeemable against treatment.

There is no single best option for everyone. Pharmacy products, prescription medication, hormonal treatment, dermatology care, laser and light-based treatments may be appropriate in different circumstances. See a GP if acne is moderate or severe, has not improved with pharmacy treatment, includes painful nodules or cysts, or is causing scarring or significant distress.
