Introduction

Profhilo Treatment in Essex

Often described as an “injectable moisturiser”, Profhilo is designed to improve hydration, skin texture and overall skin quality without adding filler-like volume or changing your facial features.

Treatment Overview

What Is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment used to support skin hydration and bio-remodelling. It has a more fluid consistency than traditional dermal filler and is administered at carefully selected injection points before dispersing through the surrounding tissue.

The treatment helps the skin retain moisture while supporting collagen and elastin production, which contribute to firmness and elasticity.

How it works

How Is Profhilo Different from Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are placed in specific areas to add or restore volume, improve contours or support facial structure. Profhilo is not designed to reshape the face.

Instead, it spreads through the treated tissue to improve hydration, texture and elasticity. Improvements develop gradually rather than creating an obvious change.

Where Can Profhilo Be Used?

Profhilo is most commonly used on the face. It may also be considered for the neck, décolletage and hands, where skin can become thinner, drier or more crepey with age. Your practitioner will assess whether Profhilo is appropriate for your concerns.

How Can Profhilo Improve Skin Quality?

Profhilo may help improve:

Fine lines and wrinkles

Dry or dehydrated skin

Crepey skin texture

Dull or tired-looking skin

Reduced firmness and elasticity

Mild skin laxity

The aim is not to stop the natural ageing process. Treatment is intended to support skin health and help the skin appear smoother, fresher and better hydrated.

The Treatment Process

What happens during treatment?

The skin will be cleaned before Profhilo is injected at selected points. Small raised bumps may be visible immediately afterwards as the product begins to disperse.

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can also occur. You will receive personalised aftercare advice before leaving the clinic. Appointments usually take 30 minutes.

When will I see results?

Profhilo results are gradual. You may notice improved hydration first, followed by changes in skin texture, firmness and elasticity over the following weeks.

An initial course commonly involves two treatments approximately four weeks apart. Some patients may benefit from an additional session, depending on their skin health and goals. Maintenance treatments will then be recommended.

Faqs

Profhilo FAQs

Have questions before booking? Here are the most common things patients ask about consultations, pricing, results, downtime and suitability.

Profhilo costs £250 per treatment at Smooth Dimensions. The total cost depends on the number of appointments recommended after your consultation.

Profhilo may be worthwhile if you want to improve hydration, fine lines and skin quality without adding volume. Results are subtle and gradual, so it may not suit someone seeking an immediate or dramatic change.

No. Suitability depends more on your skin, health and expectations than age alone. However, Profhilo may not be enough by itself for advanced skin laxity or significant volume loss.

Profhilo requires an initial course and maintenance. Temporary bumps, redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising can occur. It also cannot replace lost volume or significantly lift loose tissue.

Results vary between patients. Maintenance is commonly considered around every six months, based on your response and skin maintenance goals.

Yes, although not on the same day. They address different concerns: dermal filler adds or restores volume, while Profhilo focuses on hydration and skin quality.

Standard Profhilo primarily improves hydration and skin quality. Profhilo Structura is a separate treatment intended for deeper age-related changes in facial tissues.

Treatment may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, when there is an active skin infection, or for people with certain medical conditions or medications. A full medical assessment is required.
