Rejuvenate the perioral area using dermal fillers
The ‘perioral’ area of your face is the area immediately surrounding your mouth. The perioral area includes several features: both lips, upper lip area under the nose, nasiolabial folds (‘smile lines’ or ‘laugh lines’), and the corners of the mouth.
The appearance of these lines may be exaggerated through chronic sun exposure or smoking and certain individuals are shown to have an inherited predisposition to developing them.
Small volumes of dermal filler can be used to reduce the appearance of perioral lines and also enhance the projection of the lips. This restores a fuller, smoother and more youthful appearance to the lower face which can also be supplemented by botulinum toxin (Botox).

To rejuvenate the perioral area, we use a robust form of facial filler, but one that still looks natural. There are many products that are suitable for use in this area, but we routinely use Juvéderm Voluma, a hyaluronic acid filler that subtly volumises while drawing in moisture.
Results usually last up to 18 months and therefore are not permanent.
Patients can have treatment as and when they see fit, but it’s important to allow adequate time for the treatment to settle before considering another treatment.
The treatment creates an instant effect, but the results will improve as the product settles and integrates with the facial tissue.
Normal activity can resume immediately and make up can be applied after treatment. The area can be massaged firmly to smooth out any water that has been absorbed by the gel.
